Critical Lift Supervisor Job Description
The Critical Lift Supervisor is a key role in our organization, responsible for leading a team of technicians for Starship and Super Heavy vehicles. This position requires a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Team Management: Lead and manage a team of critical lift technicians who specialize in heavy crane lifting and rigging operations.
* Performance Management: Review work instructions, make change recommendations when needed, assess and vet appropriate skillsets, identify training needs, and develop training programs.
* Reporting and Data Analysis: Provide required data and reporting to support departmental metrics and improvement objectives.
* Time Management: Monitor labor hours and overtime, and implement improvement plans and time management with staff.
* Communication and Teamwork: Effectively organize, assign, and track work/deliverables for the team, ensuring seamless progression through multi-shift work schedules, and foster a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
* A high school diploma or equivalency certificate.
* 8+ years of experience in Heavy Lift/Heavy Transport Operations.
* 5+ years of experience leading Crane and Rigging teams.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
* An understanding of all rigging equipment, shackles, straps, slings, rope, hoists, etc.
* The ability to calculate and determine appropriate lifting equipment and write lift plans.
* A strong working knowledge of lifting signals and communications, operating, and inspecting heavy equipment.
* The ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment.
* NCCER Rigging certification and NCCCO crane operator certification.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
* A valid driver's license.
* The ability to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting upper body, working in cramped positions in small openings, and climbing hand over hand, lifting 50 lbs. unassisted, and working on ladders/lifts at elevated heights.
* Typically exposed to work in extreme outdoor environments heat, cold, rain.
* Work performed in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise.
* Must be available to work extended hours and weekends, which varies depending on site operational needs; flexibility required.
* Able to travel for short and extended trips as needed - up to 5% travel.
