The role will ensure value is added to the company by applying actuarial principles to provide advice on important business decisions and liability valuations, with a focus on reserving.
Key priorities
* Support preparation of annual actuarial valuation and financial condition reports.
* Manage monthly liability valuations and contribute to statutory reporting.
* Assist with year-end assumptions, financial accounts, and audits.
* Maintain IFRS 17 financial journals.
* Identify opportunities to improve reserving and reporting processes.
* Collaborate with Claims, Pricing, Underwriting, and Finance teams.
* Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and risk management practices.
* Contribute to the Actuarial Control Cycle with technical and peer reviews.
* Deliver ad-hoc analysis and reporting as required.
Experience & Knowledge
* Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science. Additional study/education (e.g. Honours) desirable.
* Actuarial Fellowship qualification (Institute of Actuaries or equivalent).
* Minimum 3 years' actuarial experience in general insurance. Experience across a mixture of Reserving, Pricing and Reinsurance is desirable.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving and Excel skills.
* Experience in developing new actuarial models with a high degree of independence and autonomy.
* Knowledge of IFRS 17, regulatory frameworks, and actuarial standards.Experience in delivering presentations to senior company leaders (e.g. CEO, board members).
* Strong engagement with external stakeholders (e.g. reinsurers).
* Proactive and adaptable team player with strong attention to detail, time management under pressure, integrity, and commitment to ongoing development.
