A major bank is seeking an IMS Systems Programmer to join their team on a 12-month contract highly likely to extend. Role can be based in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Adelaide.
Responsibilities
Install, customize, and maintain IMS components (IMS DB, IMS TM, IMS Connect, IMS Tools, etc.)
Perform IMS system upgrades, RSU/PUT maintenance, and version migrations
Configure IMS subsystems, exit routines, security settings, logging, and recovery processes
Troubleshoot complex system-level incidents, abends, performance issues, and operational problems
Manage SMP/E environments, APPLY/ACCEPT processes, and product maintenance
Support high-availability, disaster recovery, and parallel sysplex configurations
Key Skills / Experience
5+ years of experience as an IMS System Programmer in large enterprise or financial environments
Deep knowledge of IMS architecture, system configuration, IMS utilities, exits, and logs
Strong experience with z/OS, SMP/E, JES2, RACF, VTAM, TCP/IP, and related subsystems
Hands-on experience with IMS Connect, OTMA, and IMS TM
Strong understanding of sysplex technologies, DR strategies, and performance tuning
Excellent debugging, diagnostics, and problem-resolution skills
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional technical teams
