Assistant Director | OSHC | Gladesville Area
About Us:
At Firefly HR, we work exclusively with exceptional providers and candidates to connect the best talent with the highest quality opportunities in education and care.
What if leadership felt less like pressure and more like purpose?
You're not just looking for a job—you're looking for the right fit where you can lead with clarity, be supported, and make a real impact.
What you'll actually do?
In this role you'll:
* Support the Director with day‐to‐day operations such as rostering, ratios and team support
* Mentor educators through challenges, growth and the daily joys of the job
* Guide quality across programs, planning and practice
* Build meaningful relationships with children, families and the school
* Design Vacation Care programmes that children will talk about for weeks
* Share administrative responsibilities with a full‐time administrator
* Contribute to strategic decisions as the service transitions to a P&C model
Currently split shifts are in place, but block shifts may be offered to suit your needs.
The service:
Independent, not‐for‐profit OSHC with strong school ties
* 180 children in the afternoons, 120 in the mornings — busy but well‐staffed
* Dedicated OSHC facilities, including your own office
* Use of the school hall, library and outdoor zones
* A capable and present Director who values autonomy and shared leadership
* An experienced team with space to grow and support to get there
Why this will feel different?
* You'll have autonomy, but never feel alone
* You'll be trusted, with structure behind you
* You'll lead people, not just manage tasks
* You'll shape something real, not just maintain what's already there
Who this suits – You're someone who:
* Has four or more years in OSHC and knows how to support and guide a team
* Is ready to step into leadership that matters — not just responsibility for its own sake
* Brings a calm, people‐first approach to daily service life
* Wants to stay in the sector and grow their long‐term impact
* Bonus: has used OWNA or Deputy and understands CCS, though that's not essential
Formal qualifications are a bonus but not a dealbreaker. What matters is how you lead!
Child Safeguarding:
We seek an individual who will understand, adhere to, and promote the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations (the Child Safe Standards) and help take action to promote child wellbeing and prevent harm.
Child safeguarding methods for this position could include, but are not limited to:
* Having a NSW Working With Children Check (WWCC) or willingness to obtain one
* Thorough screening
* Reference checks
* A national criminal history check
Sound like a team you could grow with? We'd love to share more.
