Role Overview
The successful applicant will diagnose, service, fuel and maintain council's diesel plant and machinery both in the field and the workshop as required. Responsibilities include maintaining records, ensuring compliance with policy and procedures, safely transporting fuel to designated locations, operating fueling equipment and maintaining accurate delivery records, and ensuring customer service excellence.
The role also involves ensuring all fueling, repairs and maintenance of the Councils fleet is carried out safely and cost‐effective.
Essential Knowledge & Skills
* Post trade experience in servicing, repair and maintenance of a range of plant, earthmoving and road transport equipment.
* Demonstrated fault‐finding and diagnostic skills in workshop and field environments, including machine management software operations.
* Proven experience in maintenance and fault diagnostics of machinery hydraulic systems.
* Ability to diagnose automotive electrical systems.
* Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team and coaching/mentoring apprentices.
* Ability to maintain records and use computer systems for effective recording of maintenance records.
* Experience driving/operating an HR class truck and auxiliary equipment.
* AUR31116 Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent.
* Queensland heavy vehicle driver's licence – Class HR or above, current and maintained.
* Queensland General Construction Induction (White/Blue card).
* Queensland High Risk Work licence – FL (forklift truck) current and maintained.
Essential Requirements
* Carry out a service and maintenance programme and fault diagnostic service for Council's plant and machinery.
* Safe operation of a fuel delivery vehicle to deliver fuel to stakeholder locations and sites.
* Operate pumps and hoses to load fuel at the distribution point and safely discharge fuel at various locations.
* Plan delivery routes to ensure timely deliveries, adhering to all council policies and industry regulations for safe and effective delivery of fuel.
* Ensure safe work methods, practices and conditions at all times while working with plant and machinery.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Fleet and Logistics Section.
* Perform other duties as delegated within the level of responsibility.
* Order parts, plan and communicate with stakeholders.
* Maintain oils and consumables inventories on the field service vehicle.
