Project manage a community-based research program with women from migrant, refugee and asylum-seeking backgrounds to improve access to care and support mental wellbeing

Base Salary $103,185 - $111,237 (HEO6) pro rata + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

The Sydney Policy Lab is where community members and academics come together to solve complex challenges. We work with people from all walks of life to set the agenda, experiment and make public policy that transforms lives. The Lab's work is community centred, multidisciplinary, exploratory and applied. To kickstart a new ecosystem of public policy research and development, our projects build on deep relationships with civil society organisations, government and philanthropy. Our team prioritises working with people who have been excluded from decision-making, leadership and power.

We are seeking a Research Project Coordinator to lead the coordination of a research program with women from migrant, refugee and asylum-seeking backgrounds in South West Sydney to co-design solutions that improve access to care and support mental wellbeing. This program is a partnership between the Sydney Policy Lab and community organisations in and around South West Sydney. Funding is provided by a grant from the Ramsay Hospital Research Foundation.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

* provide project management and coordination for the project
* manage the development and implementation of work stream project plans and monitor delivery, providing advice on changes needed to ensure deliverables are met
* coordinate logistics for the project, including scheduling meetings, coordinating attendees, planning events and meetings in various locations, and sourcing venues
* develop and maintain effective relationships with the research team, community and other stakeholders
* support communications activities for the project in collaboration with the research team and communications personnel
* implement project governance including policy and contractual compliance, reporting to internal and external stakeholders and manage project financials
* support a team culture of collaboration, learning and inquiry

About you

The University values courage and creativity; openness and engagement; inclusion and diversity; and respect and integrity. We are looking for a Research Project Coordinator who has:

* experience as an organised and proactive project coordinator, able to keep complex work moving while building respectful, trusting relationships
* excellent timeline management, budgets, and logistics skills, with a knowledge that the success of a project depends on the quality of the relationships that underpin it
* cultural awareness and sensitivity to working with people from diverse backgrounds, including those who have experienced migration, displacement or trauma
* diplomacy, tact and sound judgment in all interactions, and confidence in working in partnership with researchers, community organisations, policymakers and other stakeholders
* comfort in a university environment, with an understanding of the importance of compliance, reporting, and good governance
* pride in enabling others to do their best work by providing structure, clarity, and dependable follow-through
* willingness to work flexibly, as required for collaborating with community and partners
