Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Accommodation Manager to oversee the efficient daily operations of The Swiss Motel Cooma and ensure a positive guest experience. The ideal candidate will be highly organised, possess strong customer service and communication skills, and demonstrate the ability to coordinate staff and maintain the smooth running of the premises. This role requires a proactive and hands-on approach to all aspects of motel management.
Responsibilities:
1. Operational Management:
* Manage the day-to-day operations of the motel, including front office services, housekeeping, and basic property upkeep.
* Ensure all guest rooms and common areas are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and presentation.
* Oversee the reservation process, guest check-in and check-out procedures, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
* Monitor and manage stock levels of necessary supplies and arrange for timely replenishment.
* Guest Experience:
* Provide exceptional and personalised service to all guests, ensuring their needs are met promptly and professionally.
* Act as the primary point of contact for guest enquiries, requests, and feedback, resolving any issues effectively.
* Foster a welcoming and friendly environment for all guests.
* Possess knowledge of the local area and be capable of providing helpful information and recommendations to guests.
* Handle daily financial transactions, ensuring accuracy in cash handling and record-keeping.
* Maintain accurate records of all income and expenditure.
* Contribute to basic budget monitoring and cost control efforts.
* Staff Coordination:
* Coordinate the activities of housekeeping and other operational staff to ensure efficient service delivery.
* Assist with the development of staff rosters to ensure adequate coverage.
* Provide guidance and on-the-job training to staff as required.
* Property Maintenance and Safety:
* Oversee routine property maintenance and arrange for minor repairs as needed, escalating more complex issues appropriately.
* Ensure adherence to all relevant health and safety regulations to maintain a safe environment for guests and staff.
* Implement and monitor security procedures to ensure the safety of the premises and its occupants.
* Administrative Functions:
* Manage telephone and email communications professionally and efficiently.
* Maintain organised records and documentation.
* Manage online reservation platforms and ensure accurate listing information.
* Ensure compliance with local council regulations and licensing requirements relevant to motel operations.
Qualifications:
* Demonstrated experience in an accommodation management role (motel, guest house, serviced apartments preferred).
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
* Strong organisational and time management abilities.
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small team.
* Basic understanding of financial administration and record-keeping.
* Knowledge of general cleaning and maintenance practices.
* Proficiency in using computer systems, including reservation software and basic office applications.
* Ability to perform basic maintenance tasks is desirable.
* Familiarity with the Cooma and Snowy Mountains region is advantageous.
* Valid driver's license.
