Senior Lawyer - Energy Projects Job Description
The Role:
This position reports to the General Manager Legal and serves as the lead projects lawyer in major business projects across development, financial completion, construction, commissioning, and operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide legal guidance on negotiation and drafting of renewable energy project agreements and gas firming project agreements related to development, construction, and/or operations.
2. Lead Squadron's LNG import terminal – agreements related to commissioning and operations of the terminal.
3. Assist with significant business contracts and projects undertaken by the business.
4. Offer practical and strategic commercial legal support across the Squadron Energy business based on a sound understanding of the business' goals and commercial drivers.
5. Advise and present to senior management on matters requiring business approval.
6. Identify and manage key legal risks for the group.
7. Instruct and efficiently manage the use of external lawyers.
8. Contribute as a senior member of the legal team, with ability to develop into a team leader; provide motivation, encouragement and opportunities for development.
About You:
You will have:
1. 10+ years post admission experience in private practice or in-house in the energy sector.
2. Experience drafting and negotiating project development, construction and operations contracts for energy projects.
3. Experience advising on gas projects, operations, FSRU or LNG shipping, or LNG or gas sales agreements, or similar matters (relevant to our Port Kembla Energy Terminal).
4. Tertiary qualifications in law with a current unrestricted practising certificate in Australia.
