Finance manager

Wheatbelt NRM is seeking an experienced and capable Finance Manager to join an enthusiastic and passionate team in Northam, Western Australia. Hours can be part to full time based on your availability, and compensation will be based on experience.

This is a hands‐on role suited to someone who can step confidently into an established finance function, provide leadership and support to a junior Finance Officer, and work collaboratively across the organisation.

This position will be responsible for managing project finances, preparing financial and corporate reports, supporting budgeting and forecasting processes, and ensuring sound financial governance and compliance.

We're looking for someone who is proactive, positive, solutions‐focused, and enjoys helping others. The successful applicant will be comfortable working within established systems and processes while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement where appropriate.

Experience with MYOB is highly desirable, and familiarity with Xero will be advantageous as we explore future system options.

This role offers flexibility in working hours and can be structured around school hours or a full‐time schedule. However, the position is required to work from our Northam office five days per week to support collaboration with the wider team.

Selection Criteria

Applicants must address the following criteria in a cover note, supported by a resume with two (2) referees.

• Relevant Experience – Demonstrated experience in finance management, bookkeeping, and accounting functions within a business, not‐for‐profit, or project‐based environment. Ideally this experience would be underpinned by tertiary qualifications.
• Technical Experience – Sound knowledge and practical experience using accounting software such as MYOB and/or Xero.
• Experience supporting staff – Able to exemplify positive contributions to a collaborative team environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills – Demonstrated willingness to assist colleagues (across disciplines) and provide excellent internal customer service.
• A proactive, positive, and solutions‐focused approach – Able to work effectively within established systems and processes.
• Demonstrated commitment to fostering and contributing to a positive, values driven culture with a strong sense of team.
