Role


Patterson River Secondary College is seeking a passionate & enthusiastic Instrumental Music - Brass instructor one day per week. Start date negotiable.

The instrumental music program at Patterson River Secondary College has been a valued part of the school community for over 40 years. The advantages of a music education in supporting student development in a wide range of abilities is well known, and as such; all students at Patterson River Secondary College are given the opportunity at Year 7 to learn an instrument. The availability of hired instruments and access to free lessons means that our intake of Year 7 students is consistently strong and has seen steady growth in recent years, alongside general school numbers.

Our instrumental music program is concert band focused and consists of 150 students on average. We are an active program with a dedication to playing at school events, primary schools and local community events. A dedicated staff of instrumental music teachers run rehearsals and lessons for a range of bands and ensembles which represent the finest of our school values.


Responsibilities


The successful applicant will need to instruct individual and group lessons in trumpet and trombone from Year 7 to VCE and run a range of ensembles.

Job responsibilities may include:

* Directing brass ensembles
* Performing stocktake of brass instruments
* Managing the instrumental assets register spreadsheet
* Attending evening/weekend performances as directed.
* Attending music camp and other school events/excursions.
* Participating in SEVR music events.
* Assisting the Music manager with office administration as required.
* Performing in the school bi-annual production band.
* Marking attendance and lesson timetabling on Compass.
* Completing semester-based reporting on Compass.
