Airborne Solutions Australia provides aerial surveillance services under contract to the Australian Border Force as the largest civil maritime surveillance operation of its kind in the world, and a search-and rescue capability across nearly 10 percent of the earth's surface under Australian Maritime Safety Authority.
We currently have an opportunity for a responsible Aircraft Ground Handler to carry out ground handling functions and maintain the cleanliness of aircraft and the base and cordination of Ground Servicing Equipment. The Special Mission Ground Handler plays a key part in ensuring that the Cairns base and aircraft are presented to a high standard at all times.
This role operates during core business hours, Monday to Friday but some flexibility will be required for essential tasks out of hours or on weekends, on occasions.
Job Description
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Undertake cleaning of the interior and exterior of aircraft
* Assist engineers with ground handing activities, such as:
o Towing and repositioning aircraft
o Wing walk and clearance when aircraft are being move
o Connect and disconnect of GPUs and air-conditioning units
o Compressor washing engines
* Liaise with external suppliers in relation to vehicle and facilities repairs and maintenance
* Ground Servicing Equipment inspections and raising Repair orders
* General upkeep and housekeeping at the base
* Assist engineers on aircraft checks removing panels etc
* Ad hoc general duties to support the smooth running of the Cairns base.
Qualifications
Skills and Experience
Essential
* Physical fitness, with the ability to work at heights
* Methodical approach to work
* Flexibility to work outside core business hours from time to time
Desirable
* Previous ground handling experience
* Previous experience working in a mechanical or engineering environment
* Elevated Work Platform licence
* Forklift licence
* First Aid/CPR certificate
