The Town Planner will be responsible for all Town planning & site acquisition activities for allocated search areas, including desktop assessment, town planning assessment and approvals.
The position may be required to provide support and advice on other company projects.
**Responsibilities**:
- Responsibility for Town Planning site acquisition activities for a multiple number of allocated search areas.
- Undertaking environmental desktop assessments
- Providing specialist advice on environmental planning issues.
- Liaising with Council planning staff and other related third parties
- Involvement in community engagement practices.
- Engaging and instructing external specialist consultants
- Ensure that the agreed implementation schedules and guidelines are followed and enforced.
- Undertaking regular daily/weekly/monthly progress reporting internally and externally.
- Attend coordination and progress meetings with the Client.
- Ensure that quality of contract deliverables is within client's standards and Client expectations.
- Maintain a good working relationship with the Customers representatives and all disciplines involved in the project.
**To be successful in this role you must have the following**:
- Degree qualification in Town Planning, Urban Planning or Environmental Science
- 1+ years of mobile deployment experience within the telecommunications industry
- Ideally thorough understanding of the relevant sections of the Telecommunications Act, including Schedule 3 and the Telecommunications (Low Impact Facilities Determination), State Environmental Planning Policy (Infrastructure) and other Federal and State legislation as required.
- Experience managing and delivering development proposals through local consent processes
- Comprehensive knowledge of Town and Country Planning Legislation
- Up to 3-6 years relevant experience will be highly desirable
- Strong command of the English language, both verbal and written
- Ability to work as part of a multi disciplinary project team
- Effective negotiation skills
- Excellent stakeholder management skills
- Previous experience working in a Telecoms related field is also highly regarded although not essential
