The New Acland Coal Mine (NAC), a thin seam open cut mining operation is owned and managed by New Hope Group. Based in Acland, a short drive north-west of Toowoomba NAC has played a key role in the Darling Downs region as an employer and economic contributor since it began operation in October 2002.
We are excited to offer a permanent full-time position for an experienced Management Accountant to join our team on site at New Acland Coal.
What you will be doing:
As the Management Accountant, you will play a key role in budgeting, forecasting, cost control and financial analysis to ensure the mine operates efficiently and profitably.
You will achieve success by:
o Taking a lead role in the processing and execution of accounting and finance activities
o Assisting with the preparation of periodic management accounts, reports and analysis
o Assisting with information required for financial statements, fixed asset register and monthly reports
o Supporting the forecasting and budgeting process
o Assisting with internal audits and compliance with financial policies and statutory requirements
o Identify opportunities for process improvement within financial processes
What you will need to succeed:
o Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or Business highly regarded
o CPA/CA/CIMA or similar accreditation preferred
o Experience with mining / resource accounting, budgeting and forecasting
o Strong understanding of effective management accounting processes
o Ability to apply data analytical techniques
o Strong communication skills to communicate effectively across all levels of site
o Be able to work as part of a team
