Marketing Communicatons Manager

Offer description

We're a global tech company, just not the kind you're picturing.

Sure, we've got catered lunches, team events, cool merch, and yes... dogs in the office. But that's not why people join.

Our team of nearly a thousand people wakes up every day to make our product and our customers' lives better. At SafetyCulture, you'll hear "yes, let's give it a shot" more often than "that's not how we do things here."

People join because we're building tools that make work better for the 3 billion people who keep the world moving – factory floor operators, baggage handlers, truck drivers, servers, store assistants. The ones who make things happen. We've got the scale and innovation you'd expect from big tech. The difference? No endless layers of sign‐off. No corporate theatre. Just smart, experienced people solving real problems fast.

The scale is big. But the ownership's personal. Every full‐time team member gets equity – real skin in the game. When we grow, you do too. We're not perfect, no company is. But this next chapter of our growth is about scaling with intelligence, not just size – fueled by operational maturity, a clear vision, and a strong focus on AI.

This is big tech impact, without the big tech ick.

If that excites you more than it scares you, you'll fit right in.

This role is responsible for shaping and protecting SafetyCulture's external reputation, establishing us as a credible leader in frontline work, and telling compelling frontline stories that cut through with the audiences that matter most.

The opportunity

As we continue to scale globally, we're looking for a strategic Senior Communications Manager to act as a trusted advisor to the business and a driver of high‐impact external communications. Reporting to the Head of Communications, this is a hands‐on role with significant ownership. You'll set direction as well as execute, partnering closely with leaders across the company to develop narratives, campaigns, and thought leadership that elevate SafetyCulture's voice in priority industries and markets.

Key Responsibilities

* There's no such thing as a 'typical day' on our global communications team. However, at the core of this role, you will:
* Strategic counsel & narrative leadership
* Act as a strategic communications advisor to the business, providing clear recommendations on messaging, positioning, channels, and timing to support business priorities
* Develop and evolve corporate and B2B communications strategies grounded in data, audience insight, cultural context, and industry trends
* Translate complex products, ideas, and strategies into clear, compelling narratives that resonate with external audiences
* Industry‐led campaigns & earned storytelling
* Lead the development of industry‐specific communications campaigns that build credibility and relevance in priority verticals
* Shape and amplify company milestones, product launches, research, and partnerships through integrated earned and owned channels
* Identify proactive storytelling opportunities that align SafetyCulture's innovation with real‐world frontline challenges
* Thought leadership & executive positioning
* Build and scale SafetyCulture's thought leadership program from the ground up, positioning the company as a leading authority on frontline work
* Partner with internal SMEs, customers, and external experts to generate original insights, research‐led stories, and opinion‐led content
* Develop bylines, op‐eds, keynote narratives, and commentary that elevate executive voices and drive industry conversation
* Media relations & issues management
* Own and drive timely, strategic responses to inbound media enquiries, including correcting inaccuracies and managing sensitive issues
* Develop high‐quality media materials including press releases, statements, Q&As, talking points and briefing documents
* Proactively build and maintain strong relationships with key media, influencers, and stakeholders across priority markets
* Support crisis and issues communications planning, providing calm, considered recommendations under pressure
* Leadership enablement & partnerships
* Triage and assess external speaking and profile‐building opportunities, ensuring alignment with business priorities
* Prepare senior leaders for media interviews, speaking engagements, and external appearances through message development and coaching
* Manage and drive high performance from PR agency partners and freelance partners
* Ways of working
* Partner closely with Marketing, Product, VX, People & Culture and other teams to deliver integrated, high‐impact outcomes
* Balance multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining high standards and a sense of humour

You'll thrive in this role if you:

* Have 8+ years of blended corporate and B2B communications experience, in‐house or agency
* Are a world‐class writer with the ability to adapt tone and messaging across audiences and channels
* Bring a strategic mindset and enjoy advising leaders as much as executing the work yourself
* Have strong relationships with business, technology, and news media in Australia, with an understanding of the US and European media landscapes
* Are highly proactive, comfortable working independently, and confident navigating ambiguity
* Demonstrate strong stakeholder management skills and a calm, considered approach to issues and crisis communications
* Have a deep curiosity for cultural, industry, and technology trends – and know how to turn insight into impact
* Embrace AI and emerging tools to scale outputs while preserving creativity and human connection
* Thrive in fast‐paced, team‐first environments where adaptability is key

If you don't tick every box, that's okay. We care more about your drive, curiosity, and potential than a flawless resume.

More than a job

* Equity with high growth potential, and a competitive salary
* Flexible working arrangements, we encourage you to create the best work blend while working from your home and the local SafetyCulture office
* Access to professional and personal training and development opportunities
* Hackathons, Workshops, Lunch & Learns
* We encourage involvement in the community, open source work, attending talks and events, and experimenting with new technologies

Office Benefits

* In‐house Culinary Crew serving up daily breakfast, lunch and snacks
* Barista coffee machine, craft beer on tap, boutique wines and a range of non‐alcoholic beverages
* Wellbeing initiatives such as subsidised fitness programs, EAP services and generous parental leave policy
* Quarterly celebrations and team events, including the annual Shiplt global offsite
* On‐site gym, table tennis, board games, books library, and pet‐friendly offices
