We are a K-12 independent, secular, co-educational school with a stunning 17-acre bushland campus in the Blue Mountains. This is an opportunity for two passionate Primary School teachers to join a supportive and collegial school community. The successful candidates will be passionate about providing inquiry-based learning and be an engaging and effective classroom practitioner whose knowledge, skills and passion will inspire students to engage deeply with learning.

Terms and conditions of employment

This is a Temporary Full-Time position covered within the NSW Independent Schools (Teaching Staff) CMEA. This is a long term temporary position commencing Term 2, 2026 and ending Term 1, 2027.

Qualifications

Appropriate tertiary qualifications recognised by the NSW Institute of Teachers for eligibility to teach in New South Wales.

Responsible to

The Principal, Korowal School.

The Primary teachers meet and work regularly with the Primary School Coordinator and Deputy Principal to ensure coherence and continuity in curriculum delivery within the accepted practices and culture of the school.

* To work creatively and sensitively with colleagues, communicating clearly and openly, to maintain a good working relationship and allowing other teachers and staff to contribute to the School to their greatest capacity.
* To work with colleagues to implement transdisciplinary teaching practices which support an integrated and holistic educational experience.
* To attend staff meetings and other meetings as required.
* To sensitively and willingly work in harmonious partnership with parents, respecting differences, without compromising individual ideals or the School's ideals.
* To be available for interviews/ network meetings with parents (at an agreed time) on a needs basis.
* To maintain the necessary administrative records and stay informed of and adhere to the regulations and requirements of the various government bodies.
* To attend professional learning days and appropriate conferences/meetings.
* To keep abreast of current issues which affect curriculum and needs of children.

Responsibilities

* The implementation of syllabuses as described in the NSW Curriculum.
* Provide an engaging, vibrant, supportive learning environment, working within the vision of Korowal School.
* Provide effective feedback to students.
* Maintenance of programs, registers and work samples.
* Upholding of our School's policies and procedures.
* Playground duties.
* Attendance at parent/teacher evenings, and other School community events including the annual Fair and Open Day.

Selection Criteria (these must be addressed in your application)

The successful applicant will have:

* An appropriate qualification which is recognised by the NSW Institute of Teachers and current registration with NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA).
* A current Working with Children Check registered number.
* Experience in teaching the NSW Australian Curriculum in a primary school and understanding of regulations and legislation relevant to teaching primary students in NSW.
* Experience working as a team member in a collegiate teaching environment.
* Experience/training in an explicit approach to teaching literacy through phonics and phonemic awareness.
* Experience in teaching with project-based learning and sustainability initiatives would be an advantage.
* An ability to lead children in singing, recorder playing and reading music.
* An ability to lead children in speaking, listening and drama activities.
* An ability to draw and lead children through guided art activities.
* A willingness to uphold Korowal School's values and ethos.
