Environmental & Sustainability Coordinator

Commencing Term 1 2027 | Full-time

Are you a passionate educator committed to shaping the next generation of ecological stewards? Freshwater Christian College is seeking a dynamic and visionary Environmental & Sustainability Coordinator to lead the pedagogical and curricular integration of sustainability across our Secondary School (Years 7–12). This is a leadership role of added responsibility, held in conjunction with a classroom teaching position.

The Role

As the Environmental & Sustainability Coordinator, you will report directly to the Head of Secondary and work closely with the curriculum and pedagogy team.

Key Responsibilities Include:
* Instructional Leadership: Audit and refine the 7–12 scope and sequence to ensure sustainability is authentically embedded in all Learning Areas, from Mathematics to Humanities.
* Student Agency: Mentor a high-profile student leadership group, empowering them to lead peer-to-peer campaigns and global citizenship initiatives.
* Innovative Pedagogy: Model inquiry-based and service-learning models that challenge students to solve real-world environmental problems.
* Theological Alignment: Weave environmental education together with the College's Christian values, focusing on the biblical mandate to care for the Earth.
Nature of Appointment

Commencing 15 January 2027, this position is full-time. This role includes an active classroom teaching component. A dedicated non-contact time allowance and a financial leadership loading are provided in recognition of the added responsibilities of this position. Relocation allowance may be available.

About You

We are looking for a collaborative leader who is deeply aligned with the Christian values and educational philosophy of Freshwater Christian College.

Essential Criteria:
* Current Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) registration, or the ability to obtain.
* Full alignment with the Christian values, virtues, and Statement of Faith of Freshwater Christian College.
* Demonstrated expertise in the Australian Curriculum and successful experience in collaborative secondary environments.
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Highly Regarded:
* Postgraduate studies in Education.
* Proven success in implementing Project-Based Learning (PBL) in a secondary setting.
