Join our WaterOperations team as a supportive, on-the-ground leader (withoutthe tools in hand).
You'll becoordinating the day-to-day running of our water network,making sure crews have clear work plans, resources are linedup, and jobs are delivered safely and on time. You'll mentorstaff, help shape rosters and recruitment, and be the go-toperson during planned works and emergencies, keeping everyoneinformed and things running smoothly. You'll also work closelywith contractors, planners, and developers to make sure ourwork meets the right standards.
The Team Leaderprovides hands‐on leadership in the safe and efficientoperation and maintenance of Council's bulk water network,including trunk mains, large‐diameter pipelines, valves, andcritical water infrastructure. This role leads a skilled teamto deliver high‐quality maintenance, emergency response, andoperational outcomes while modelling strong WHS behaviours, soeveryone goes home safe.
Working withMaintenance Planners, the Team Leader coordinates proactive andreactive works, prioritises resources, and ensures compliancewith legislation, policies, and environmental requirements. Theposition also provides technical guidance, supports staffcapability development, manages rostering and performance, andcollaborates with contractors, developers, and internalstakeholders to ensure infrastructure reliability and servicecontinuity. With responsibility for on‐scene leadership duringwater main breaks and other incidents, the role plays a keypart in delivering safe, reliable, and sustainable waterservices to the community.

Qualificationsand Experience
Ideally youwill have:
Mandatory
* Extensiveexperience working in a bulk water and water reticulationenvironment.
* ConstructionIndustry White Card (30215 QLD).
* ConfinedSpace Entry certification.
* Experiencein the supervision of tradespeople, contractors andmaintenance workers including good interpersonal, mentoringand coaching skills.
* Experiencein the operation and maintenance of bulk and reticulationwater mains and pipelines, including the operation ofspecial services such as pipeline location and leakdetection.
* TrafficManagement Implementation certification (formerly Level 2Traffic Management) or ability and willingness to obtainwithin 12 months of commencement.
* CertificateIV in Leadership and Management.
* CertificateIV in Water Industry Operations or ability and willingnessto obtain within two years of commencement in thisposition.
* Tradequalification in Plumbing.
* SeniorFirst Aid certificate.
* Extensiveexperience working in local government in a bulk waterand/or water reticulation environment.
* Demonstratedcomputer skills including the use of iCal or otherplanning/scheduling and work order systems, GIS and mappingsoftware and tools, and the Microsoft suite.
* Problemsolving skills to deal with operational and maintenanceissues in accordance with organisational and industrystandards in plumbing and pipelaying, including the CTMcode.
