Job Description
The Guidance Officer is responsible for providing professional expertise, leadership, and support to school communities and networks in the development and implementation of plans, programs, and procedures to assist students in achieving positive educational, developmental, and lifelong learning outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing advice and counselling on educational, behavioural, vocational, personal, social, family, and mental health and wellbeing issues for students with mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
* Supporting the identification, support, and therapeutic intervention planning for students' mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
* Ensuring safety plans are implemented for students who are self-harming and/or at risk of suicide.
* Collecting data relevant to the role of Guidance Officer - Student Wellbeing, including pre- and post-intervention data from students and their families regarding the student's mental health and the impact on their overall functioning.
Required Skills and Qualifications
For this position, you will need to have strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as experience working with students with mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
It would be beneficial if you had knowledge of preventative and early intervention strategies, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with school staff and other stakeholders.
