Tourism Tasmania is recruiting for an exciting new position within our Executive Leadership team, as our Chief Business Officer. A strategic senior leadership position at the heart of a commercial government agency, you will thrive in an environment where commercial rigour meets creative ambition, and where your work directly impacts Tasmania's visitor economy.
Reporting to the CEO and working closely with our Board and Executive Leadership Team, you'll drive commercial excellence, manage the agency budget, and lead the governance and business capability that enable sustainable growth toward our 2030 vision.
Award/Classification: Senior Executive - Level 2 - Payment of Salary above the base salary of the advertised range is subject to an annual performance assessment
Salary: $183,884 to $202,163 per annum

Key Responsibilities
* Drive commercial rigour across the organisation, ensuring strong ROI across all programs and partnerships
* Represent Tourism Tasmania across government and industry forums, building strategic partnerships and managing high-level negotiations
* Work with the Director of People & Transformation to lead business transformation programs and modernise processes
* Oversee all financial and commercial matters as the agency's most senior financial officer, managing the annual budget cycle and liaising with Treasury
* Lead legal, contracting, governance and risk functions, managing compliance audits and reporting to the Board's Audit & Risk Committee
* Provide strategic advice to the CEO, Executive team and Board on complex governance, risk, financial matters and organisational performance
Who you are
You will be a strategic operator with an outcomes‐focussed approach. You will have the ability to work autonomously to rethink how we work by modernising processes, aligning resources to what matters most, and building commercial and governance approaches that fit today's challenges. You will have demonstrated previous experience working at the senior leadership level, ideally with prior experience advising the C‐suite or equivalent.
To be successful in this role, you will need to be comfortable with complexity, confident at leading through change, and skilled at building alignment across teams. Though there will be several measures of success for this role, a key outcome will be the creation of an agile, efficient and performance‐focussed organisation that can adapt quickly while staying true to our values.
