Whatyou'llbe doing
As a Staff Specialist in Geriatric Medicine, you will join an enthusiastic multidisciplinary aged care team comprising Geriatricians, Clinical Nurse Consultants, and a Nurse Practitioner. You will:
* Provide inpatient geriatric consultative services at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital.
* Deliver clinical leadership to the 16‐bed Geriatric Medicine Unit, ensuring high‐quality care and patient flow.
* Provide outpatient clinics, including ambulatory and community geriatric services.
* Deliver outreach services across MLHD—via onsite visits, telehealth, and GP support.
* Support Aged Care Assessment Teams (ACAT), Aged Care Services in Emergency Teams (ASET), and community aged‐related care services.
* Work in partnership with a broad multidisciplinary team to improve outcomes for older people.
* Supervise junior medical staff and contribute to teaching and training.
* Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, peer review, and continuing professional development.

* Holds unconditional specialist registration with Australian Health Practitioners Registration Authority (AHPRA), or holds general registration with AHPRA in the final 6 months of training approaching fellowship and specialist registration.
* Evidence of Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, specialising in Geriatric Medicine or an Advanced Trainee in the final 6 months of training approaching fellowship and/or proof of recognition as a specialist by the Specialists Recognition Advisory Committee.
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience of contemporary evidence based best practice In Geriatric Medicine and evidence of competence in skills relevant to Australian rural hospital practice.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other colleagues as part of a multidisciplinary health care team and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, and colleagues
* Demonstrated commitment to teaching and training at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to involvement in quality improvement and research programs, and an ability to work in a computerised environment.
* Demonstrated commitment to continuing self-education and development, including evidence of participation in continuing medical education / continuing professional
* Demonstrated commitment to behaviours which align to the NSW Health CORE values and MLHD Values, goals and strategies.
