MJM Recruit is partnering with an iconic Australian sporting manufacturer to recruit a Sewing Machine Mechanic to join their production team in Melbourne's South Eastern suburbs.
This is a hands-on mechanical role supporting specialised industrial sewing machines used in the manufacture of cricket balls. These machines are mechanically complex, not highly automated, and many have been modified and developed internally over time.
The focus of the role is to support the manufacturing teams; diagnosing faults, responding to breakdowns, and supporting consistent product quality. The successful candidate will also play a major role in improving and developing the bespoke on-site sewing machines and establishing regular preventative maintenance.
This role will suit someone who enjoys mechanical problem-solving, working through one-off issues, and learning equipment that doesn't come with step-by-step manuals.
About the role:
• Diagnosing and repairing breakdowns on industrial sewing machines
• Preventative maintenance to minimise downtime
• Working closely with production staff on the factory floor
• Assisting with machinery improvements and modifications
• Making or adapting components where required
About you:
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving skills
• Background in fitting, machining, maintenance, or similar
• Comfortable working on non-standard, mechanically complex equipment
• Patient, methodical, and curious by nature
• Willing to learn and build deep knowledge over time
• Australian Citizen or a holder of an Australian Permanent Residency Visa
Previous sewing machine experience is helpful but not essential. Full training will be provided to the right person.
What's on offer
• Full-time, permanent role
• Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm, with overtime available
• Stable, long-term position in a well-established manufacturing environment
• Pay is generous and flexible for the right person, depending on experience and capability
If that sounds like you, feel free to call Carl on for more information and a confidential discussion.
