The Technical Advisor role sits within Revenue
NSW. We are the state's principal revenue management agency and are a part of
the Department of Customer Service (DCS). We manage taxes, fines, debts and
administer grants in a fair, efficient and timely manner. Through this we give
back to the community and fund essential State services for the people of NSW.


The primary purpose of this role is to
administer complex legislation, research and analyse information, undertake
compliance investigations and provide technical advice on lodgements, while
also acting as a subject matter expert (SME) on related projects and
initiatives. This is an opportunity to be part of a diverse team that utilises
a broad range of skills, including client engagement, legislative
interpretation, and high-level investigative and critical thinking, all while
applying established policies and procedures.


About the
role
As a
Technical Advisor you will

* Provide technical support on complex Landholder, Corporate Reconstruction, and Corporate Consolidation transactions by accurately interpreting legislation, legal precedents, and procedural instructions, and offering one-on-one guidance with written feedback and actionable recommendations.
* Conduct assessments on complex cases by applying research, critical thinking, and delivering evidence-based decisions.
* Handle complex customer enquiries by delivering accurate, timely responses through both phone and written communication channels.
* Develop and deliver comprehensive training sessions, including onboarding for new starters, and facilitate ongoing technical and procedural training for team members.
* Identify skills gaps and legislative knowledge needs, deliver tailored training sessions to address team requirements, and provide detailed feedback to the Manager on areas of proficiency and opportunities for improvement.
* Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for projects and initiatives related to Landholder, Corporate Reconstruction and Corporate Consolidation, contributing specialist knowledge and strategic input.


About You
To be
successful in this position you will have:

* Comprehensive knowledge and proven experience in interpreting and applying the Duties Act 1997 and other relevant legislation, ensuring alignment with compliance standards, processes, and procedures.
* A thorough understanding of the most cited case precedents related to Landholder and Corporate Reconstruction provisions and proficiency in conducting investigative research, with familiarity in relevant Revenue Rulings and guidelines.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to handle complex customer enquiries and provide technical advice.
* Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate the outcomes of complex legislative matters in correspondence
* Ability to work independently and manage tasks efficiently within specified timeframes.
