These patients aren't looking for quick medicine. They're looking for a doctor who understands them and someone they can trust.
For veterans living with PTSD, trauma and complex health challenges, having a GP they trust can change their life. If you're at your best when consultations slow down and genuine trust can be built, this clinic gives you the setting to do that.
You will work with a supportive team in a well-respected practice, with earning potential of up to $600 per hour.
About the Role
This is a GP role in a clinic focused on caring for veterans.
The model is different from standard general practice.
Consultations are longer, the pace is more considered, and the focus is on building trust with patients who often have complex mental health and trauma histories.
The appeal here is simple. You have the time to listen properly, you are well-supported, and you have an income model that rewards the work you're doing.
The Role
* 30-minute consultations so you can properly understand each patient's story
* Earning potential of up to $600 per hour, depending on consults and reports
* DVA billing model with no out-of-pocket costs for patients
* A strong support team including 4 nurses, 4 admin staff and a practice manager
* Military advocates who assist with patient histories and reporting requirements
* Administrative support with DVA reports and documentation
* A collaborative team culture where doctors support each other
* Doctors are not locked into long contracts - many start part-time and increase their sessions as they become comfortable with the clinic and patient cohort.
* Clinic hours are approximately 7:00am – 4:00pm, with a one-hour lunch break, and consultations are 30 minutes as standard.
What You'll Be Doing
* Providing consultations for veteran patients
* Managing complex presentations including PTSD, trauma and mental health conditions
* Coordinating care with allied health providers
* Building long-term trust with a highly engaged patient cohort
What You Need
* AHPRA registration as a General Practitioner
* Strong communication skills and excellent English
* High emotional intelligence and ability to build rapport with patients
* Comfort managing complex mental health presentations including PTSD
* A calm, patient-centred approach to consultations
* Strong organisation and punctuality
* Veterans experience is helpful but not essential.
Doctors who genuinely care about veterans and vulnerable patients tend to do very well here.
