Child Protection Specialist Role
The JCPR Caseworker position involves assessing and addressing safety risks to children and young people within a collaborative service model.
Key Responsibilities:
* To identify and mitigate potential harm to vulnerable individuals, assess their needs and develop effective solutions.
* Work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders to create child-focused practice that respects individual culture and context.
* Provide timely, accurate information and make informed decisions prioritizing child safety and wellbeing.
* Maintain professional relationships within the Program and legislative frameworks to achieve positive change for families.
* Establish and maintain networks with partner agencies and other stakeholders to deliver holistic services.
* Engage in continuous learning and professional development to ensure contemporary practice knowledge and skills.
* Promote a culture of objective record-keeping for reporting and information sharing purposes.
* Negotiate complex conversations about risk mitigation and enhanced safety with various stakeholders.
* Initiate court action when necessary to protect child safety and wellbeing.
Requirements:
* A minimum of 2 years of experience working in frontline statutory child protection or investigation services.
* A degree in Social Work, Social Science, or Welfare is preferred; however, related degrees are considered with relevant experience.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as ability to build positive working relationships.
* A valid driver's license and paid working with children clearance number are mandatory.
