Graduate Nurse and Midwifery Program 2026

West Gippsland Healthcare Group – Warragul, Victoria

Registered Midwife / Nurse Grade 2

12-month Fixed Term | Commencing January 2026 | 32 hours per week

West Gippsland Healthcare Group (WGHG) is now accepting applications for our 2026 Graduate Nurse and Midwifery Program. Based at West Gippsland Hospital in Warragul, our program offers a supportive, challenging, and rewarding experience for graduates across five distinct streams:

Available Streams

Midwifery Stream

Post Graduate Midwifery Stream

Dual Degree Midwifery and Nursing Stream (Includes a 9-month Midwifery / 3-month Nursing option)

Nursing Stream (Includes 3 rotations across areas such as Emergency, Medical, Surgical, Day Surgery, Community Nursing, Aged Care, and Rehabilitation)

Perioperative Nursing Stream (Includes rotations through Anaesthetics, Scrub/Scout, and Recovery with extensive orientation into the perioperative environment)

Eligibility Criteria

As per PMCV Computer Match guidelines, applicants must be:

A Victorian-trained Nursing/Midwifery Graduate (citizen/permanent resident), or

A current Victorian resident – Distance Education Nursing/Midwifery Graduate, or

An Australian Interstate or New Zealand-trained Nursing/Midwifery Graduate (citizen/permanent resident)

You must also:

Be eligible for registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia

Not have previously participated in a Graduate Nurse or Midwifery Program

Have completed your Nursing and/or Midwifery degree in the January–December 2024 or 2025 academic year (depending on stream)

All healthcare/aged care staff must be fully vaccinated (3 doses) for COVID-19 and Influenza, unless a valid exemption applies. Evidence must be provided prior to commencement.

All appointments with the West Gippsland Healthcare Group are subject to the satisfactory return of professional reference checks, a NDIS worker screening clearance anda current Employee Working with Children Check. All employees must hold current entitlement to work within Australia. A six month probationary period applies to all new appointments.
