Remuneration: Tax‐free stipend of $37,145 per annum (2026 full‐time rate) under the Monash Research Training Program (RTP)
Project Summary
Young people and adolescents are identified as priority populations in national strategies. This PhD will investigate changes in alcohol and drug use among adolescents, identify high‐risk groups, examine harms and their drivers, and use population‐based datasets from Turning Point and the National Health Data Hub to inform policy and education campaigns.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and conduct research using population‐based datasets to identify patterns of adolescent alcohol and drug use and harm.
* Perform data cleaning, statistical analysis, and develop models to monitor risk groups and outcomes.
* Write research reports, journal manuscripts and policy briefs that convey findings to stakeholders and the wider community.
* Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team at Monash University's Eastern Health Clinical School and Turning Point, presenting work at academic and policy forums.
Qualifications and Eligibility
* Domestic student status only.
* Completion of Monash University minimum admission requirements for a PhD programme.
* Strong background in research methodology, data analysis and a keen interest in adolescent health and substance use.
* Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across a multidisciplinary team.
