Possum Place Child Care Centre is an Exceeding service providing care for families employed by Hunter New England LHD. About the Role
Within this role, the Early Childhood Educator will engage in service programs such as bush play, movement and a creative curriculum. As an Early Childhood Educator, it is expected that commitment to the centre's philosophy, Rights of the Child and ECA Code of Conduct is adhered to promoting an inclusive program for every child. Ongoing safety training is required both individually and within the service team.
This role requires collaboration with team, families, and external services to provide appropriately tailored activities. This is used to monitor and progress children's development as well as reporting to families and other interested parties such as school and therapists.
Responsibilities
* Engaging with children in interactions at activities and groups.
* Providing support to assist children develop functional play skills and learning.
* Active supervision of all children in all spaces.
* Attending to routine tasks such as cleaning, cooking with children, developing portfolios of children's learning.
* Participating in meetings to develop curriculums, critically reflect, and implement.
Support is provided by continuous mentoring and professional development by experienced educators and management. Training plans are inclusive of goal setting, discussion and critical reflection.
Qualifications
* Completion of Diploma of Children's Services; Associate Diploma Social Studies (Child Care); Certificate Child Care Studies; Child Care Certificate; Certificate III - Child Studies; or other recognised relevant qualification in similar educational and child related disciplines e.g. primary teaching, psychology, social welfare which are inclusive of child development and communication or working towards any of these qualifications.
