Position Overview

The Assistant Director Governance & Compliance will provide support, information and advice to the Director Risk, Governance and Compliance on activities and functions of the Court.

The Assistant Director Governance & Compliance is responsible for:

* Assisting with the Courts business planning process
* Assisting with the review, development and implementation of frameworks, policies, processes and procedures, that are consistent with the Courts business planning requirements
* Assisting with the Coordination, monitoring and reporting on governance compliance
* Assisting with the review, development and implementation of frameworks, policies, processes and procedures, that are consistent with the Courts governance requirements

Major Activities

Under limited supervision, the position is required to:

* Preparation of correspondence, submissions, briefing materials and responses for matters relating to business planning, governance and compliance.
* Coordinating of the Courts public reporting requirements relating to business planning, governance and compliance
* Coordination of responses to ad hoc requests from Government and other external stakeholders relating to business planning, governance and compliance
* Have a high standard of written communication skills
* Develop and maintain internal and external relationships with our stakeholders
* Be able to work in a fluid environment by remaining flexible, agile and adaptable
* Be committed to ongoing self‐improvement and professional development.

Previous experience in a Court environment will be highly regarded.

Formal Qualifications

Experience in risk management, governance, compliance and/or public reporting requirements for agencies under the PGPA Act is desirable.

Tertiary qualification graduate or postgraduate in a relevant discipline and/or a professional certification is desirable.

Selection Criteria

* Demonstrated experience in governance, compliance and/or public reporting requirements for agencies under the PGPA Act or demonstrated ability to quickly acquire such knowledge.
* Strong understanding of complexity within Commonwealth Government organisations and area‐specific policies, processes to monitor and guide on governance and compliance to influence quality outcomes.
* Demonstrated leadership and management skills including the ability to determine workflow priorities, assume responsibility for the delivery of outcomes and the development, coaching and guidance of staff.
* Highly effective communication, interpersonal, representational and negotiation skills and the demonstrated ability to prepare high quality written reports, briefs and correspondence.
* Demonstrated experience working cooperatively in a team‐based environment.
