Reporting to the Director, Finance Business Partners, the Assistant Director supports informed, strategic decision making across the department through the provision of expert financial advice, analysis and budget management. Working as part of a motivated and professional finance team with diverse skills and backgrounds, the EL1 Finance Business Partner plays a leading role in strengthening financial management across the organisation’s activities. The role partners closely with senior leaders delivering accurate budget management, monthly reporting and clear, well reasoned financial advice through concise written and verbal briefings.

The key duties of the position include:

Responsibilities of the EL1 may include:

* Building and sustaining collaborative relationships with stakeholders across the organisation to help them manage their budgets and forecasts.
* Develop and manage departmental budgets, including staffing.
* Monitor and review monthly forecasts in partnership with our stakeholders.
* Prepare monthly financial reports for Senior Executive, including variance analysis and commentary.
* Preparing and presenting advice and support to clients on a range of financial matters.
* Managing and supporting a team in the delivery of professional, accurate, timely and customer focussed financial services.
* Prepare monthly financial accruals, and provide input into the end of financial year process including ANAO audit requests.
Eligibility

Please note, under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the APS unless the Agency delegate has agreed, in writing.

This is a designated security assessed position. The successful candidate will have the ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance.

This selection process may be used to establish a merit pool. The pool might be accessed to fill ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies for similar roles in the Department over the next 18 months.
