The Team:

The State Communications Centre (ComCen) is where the delivery of Ambulance care begins, for our patients and is based in Hobart. The Centre provides telephone triage, clinical advice and dispatches ambulance resources in the most effective and efficient manner.

The Role:

The Communications Team Leader:

The team leader is a frontline supervisor for the Call takers in ComCen. Triple Zero call demand is continuing to grow with an average of 200 calls per day recorded in 2019 to an average of over 300 calls per day in 2025. A Team Leader for the call takers will provide support, improve morale, improve performance, and therefore result in better patient outcomes for our community

* Is a key position within the State Communications Centre, providing supervision and direction to the Call Taker and Dispatch teams, and ensuring service provision complies with national standards and operational policies.
* Has a pivotal role in ensuring Ambulance Tasmania (AT) meets its mandatory performance standards and targets.
* Provides front-line team leadership necessary for the attainment of the State Communications Centre operational goals.

You will need to:

* Organise and support the activities of the Call Taker and Dispatch teams particularly by ensuring efficient and effective operation and compliance with all relevant safety and quality systems and standards.
* Undertake call taking and dispatch duties as required by the needs in the State Communications Centre, including dispatch of and administrative procedures related to aeromedical retrievals.
* Liaise with dispatchers and maintain an awareness of AT statewide resources to ensure that resources are dispatched efficiently and effectively, liaise with the Duty Manager - Communications and ensure they are informed of any issues that may affect the delivery of service.

Details of appointment:

Permanent full time, shift worker (fully rotational) position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $115,279 to $116,416 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

* Salary range is in accordance with Ambulance Tasmania Agreement 2022

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Allowances:

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

* Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

* Holds Certificate 4 in Ambulance Communications or other qualification as approved by the Service

*Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.

* Accreditation in and experience with AMPDS

* Qualifications in Leadership or equivalent
