The Victoria Racing Club (VRC) is seeking an accomplished Sales Executive - Outdoor Events to drive revenue growth for VRC through the commercialisation of Flemington Place and Outdoor Events. Reporting to the Head of Commercial, this position combines business development, account management, and strategic relationship building to maximise the value of the VRC’s world-class entertainment precinct. This role exists to identify new opportunities, deepen partnerships, and deliver exceptional experiences in a fast-paced, high-profile events environment.
About the Role
Assist in development and implementation of an outdoor events strategy to commercialise and further innovate outdoor opportunities within the precinct.
Drive revenue by sourcing new outdoor events proactively, responding to briefs, growing existing accounts and relationships.
Manage the feasibility, full quoting, proposal, negotiation, and contracting process to secure profitable and mutually beneficial agreements.
Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships to ensure exceptional service, seamless collaboration, and smooth handovers.
Leverage market trends, competitor activity, and client insights to inform sales strategies and uncover new business opportunities.
Work closely with the broader VRC operations teams and other internal stakeholders to navigate feasibility and delivery of outdoor events.
Achieve KPIs for new outdoor business and event/client retention, ensure accurate booking processes, and maintain compliance with legal and VRC policy requirements.
Providing support where required during events along with reporting such as ECC logs and resident hotlines.
About You
Demonstrated success in sales or business development within the outdoor event space.
Strong leadership capability with the ability to mentor, support, and develop team members.
Genuine passion for outdoor events and a commitment to delivering exceptional outdoor events and experiences.
Proven ability to build and sustain long-term, meaningful client relationships.
Strong business acumen with well-developed negotiation skills, attention to detail, and effective time management.
Resilience and adaptability in high-pressure environments, with openness to change in response to evolving business needs.
Contribute to a positive and respectful team setting that values open communication, creative collaboration, and mutual support.
Manage workload effectively, with guidance from leaders, to maintain a healthy balance between high-quality creative output and personal wellbeing.

The VRC has ran Flemington and the Melbourne Cup in good times and in bad, through war, droughts, floods and economic depression. Today, the VRC still operates Flemington under a Board of Directors. The Club’s 30,000+ members enjoy facilities including access to members-only areas, guest passes, and reciprocal privileges at the Melbourne Cricket Club, social events, fine dining and admission to selected country race meetings. The VRC continues to achieve its vision of maintaining Flemington as a world leader in racing, event management and entertainment.
