Position: Media & PR Specialist - Heritage Rail (Volunteer)
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Media & Public Relations Specialist to volunteer their expertise in managing DRR's external communications. This is a crucial strategic role for someone with a strong understanding of media landscapes, excellent communication skills, and a passion for heritage. You will be responsible for developing and implementing PR strategies, engaging with journalists, and ensuring DRR's story is told effectively to a wider audience.

The Don River Railway (DRR), operated by The Van Diemen Light Railway Society Inc., is a beloved heritage railway and a premier tourist attraction in Tasmania, dedicated to recreating living railway history. Effective media relations and a strong public image are crucial for promoting our mission, attracting visitors, securing funding, and fostering community support.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
Develop and implement media relations strategies to promote DRR's activities, projects, and achievements.
Draft and distribute press releases, media advisories, and public statements.
Act as a key point of contact for media inquiries and facilitate interviews with DRR personnel.
Monitor media coverage and manage DRR's public image.
Assist with crisis communication planning and response as needed.
Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team, Board, and other volunteers to ensure consistent messaging.
Adhere strictly to all DRR policies and communication guidelines.
Contribute to a positive and professional public image for DRR.
