Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled professional to lead the development of Fiji's revised National Ageing Policy. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting a situational analysis on ageing and the elderly population in Fiji, reviewing existing data and social protection initiatives, and coordinating with policy stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
* Conducting a situational analysis on ageing and the elderly population in Fiji;
* Reviewing existing data and social protection initiatives and identifying key stakeholders;
* Coordinating with policy stakeholders, including government and civil society actors;
* Supporting technical capacity building for Ministry of Women, Children and Social Protection staff and sectoral stakeholders;
* Identifying Fiji Bureau of Statistics national surveys and including older persons' issues in all surveys, including national census;
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in social policy, preferably in ageing policy and working with Indigenous populations. They should possess professional experience in demographic data collection and analysis, particularly in a developing country, and have policy formulation experience in the Pacific region.
Required Skills and Qualifications
The following skills and qualifications are required for this position:
* Advanced degree in Demography, Social Work, Social Policy, Social Gerontology or equivalent professional experience;
* 7-10 years professional experience in social policy, preferably in ageing policy and working with Indigenous populations;
* Professional experience in demographic data collection and analysis, preferably in a developing country;
* Policy formulation experience in the Pacific region;
* Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
