Scientific Research Assistant
The Translational Immunology Team is committed to understanding the role of immune regulation in human disease. In this role as a Research Assistant, you will be working alongside an experienced team who are dedicated to providing opportunities for growth and development.
This varied role will see you build upon your lab experience while developing your data analysis and scientific writing skills by contributing to experimental design, data collection, and analysis for ongoing projects within the team.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Planning and conducting research data collection
* Maintaining and recording research data accurately
* Processing and handling of human blood according to relevant regulations
* Purifying immune cells or working with prepared immune cells
* Planning, designing, and executing laboratory assays, including flow cytometry-based assays and culture of immune cells
* Analysis of research data
* Integration of flow cytometry data with clinical data
* Preparation of scientific reports, figures for publications, and conference presentations
As a dynamic team player, you will be able to think on your feet, jump into new tasks easily, and contribute to experimental design, data collection, and analysis for ongoing projects within the team.
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated experience in the following:
* A PhD or Bachelor of Science (Hons) in a Biomedical discipline or related field, or relevant work experience
* At least 2 years' experience in a similar work environment with demonstrated knowledge of research methodologies
* Experience in handling primary immune cells and/or human cell lines
* Demonstrated experience with flow cytometry
* Proficiency in working with human samples and clinical data
* Demonstrated organization and time management skills and the ability to prioritize workloads
