About the role
Our client is seeking an experienced Data & Information Architect to lead the design, evolution, and governance of enterprise-wide data and information architecture.
Reporting to the Enterprise Architect, this role plays a pivotal part in shaping the organisation's technology roadmap and supporting its transformation into a truly insight-driven organisation. You will work in close partnership with ICT leadership, business stakeholders, and external vendors to design secure, scalable, and future-ready data solutions that enable informed decision-making and deliver meaningful outcomes for South Australians.
Key responsibilities
As the Data & Information Architect, you will:
* Lead the design and development of enterprise data and information architecture across multiple viewpoints and levels of abstraction
* Assess current and target state architectures, defining transition roadmaps to address capability gaps
* Act as a trusted architectural adviser to senior leaders, providing strategic guidance and thought leadership
* Develop and present architecture landscapes, roadmaps, UML, ER diagrams, and data models
* Design and implement robust data governance frameworks, including data quality, lineage, taxonomies, and security controls
* Lead and guide the adoption of data platforms, including data warehousing, analytics, and emerging technologies
* Define and promote best practices for data integration, modelling, and information management
* Collaborate with analytics, application, infrastructure, and operations teams to deliver cohesive, integrated solutions
* Represent the organisation on cross-agency forums and provide specialist architectural consultancy
* Mentor and guide teams in data management standards, practices, and continuous improvement
What you'll bring
* Proven experience leading enterprise data and information architecture in complex environments
* Strong capability in defining current and future state architectures and developing transition plans
* Hands-on experience with data warehousing, analytics, big data, and data integration technologies
* Sound knowledge of government ICT, information architecture, and security standards
* Experience contributing to business cases and enterprise-wide transformation initiatives
* Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly
* A collaborative and strategic mindset, with the ability to work independently under broad direction
* A strong commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and ethical workplace
Desirable qualifications
* Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related discipline
* TOGAF or other recognised architecture certifications
* Membership of relevant professional bodies
