About The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Supervisor to lead construction and maintenance activities undertaken by Council’s Civil group. Based at our Childers Depot, you will plan, coordinate and control advanced and diverse civil construction projects and maintenance programs while ensuring high-quality service delivery.
In this role, you will:
- Ensure construction and maintenance works are delivered to a high standard, in accordance with Council work practices, policies, procedures and guidelines, including Quality Assurance, Environmental, and Work Health and Safety requirements.
- Interpret design plans and specifications, assist with job planning, and perform set-out activities.
- Forecast and coordinate resource requirements, and estimate costs and quantities for project work.
- Ensure construction sites are established appropriately in line with MUTCD requirements.
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of equipment, plant and machinery in accordance with Council and manufacturer requirements.
- Provide sound technical advice on civil works matters.
- Perform other reasonable duties within capability as required.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:
- Significant experience in roads and drainage construction and maintenance within Local Government or a similar environment.
- Demonstrated experience supervising advanced or diverse civil construction or maintenance projects within time, cost, and quality constraints.
- Proven team leadership capability with the ability to motivate and support staff.
- Well-developed interpersonal and oral communication skills for effective engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong working knowledge of Council work practices, policies, procedures and guidelines, including WHS, Environmental Management, and Traffic Control.
- Appropriate licences and certificates relevant to road and drainage construction plant and equipment, including an unrestricted Class C (manual) driver’s licence.
Desired:
- Tickets in Grader, Roller and Loader operations; and an MD or HR Truck Licence.
- Qualifications equivalent to Certificate IV in Civil Construction.
