Mount Isa Mines is currently advertising an opportunity for the role of an Electrician within the High Voltage (HV) Distribution team. This residential role operates a 7 on 7 off dayshift roster.
The Role
This position involves maintaining one of Queensland's largest privately owned HV networks. Responsibilities include routine maintenance of electrical equipment, breakdown works, installation or replacement of equipment within switchyards and substations, problem diagnosis and predictive maintenance, and ensuring the highest level of safety.
Responsibilities
* High voltage equipment testing and commissioning within on 132kV/ 33kV/ 11kV/ 3.3kV reticulation systems
* Maintenance of electrical infrastructure including battery charges, switchboards, power transformers, circuit breakers and other indoor/outdoor HV switchyards switchgear
* Assisting with switching operations within the HV network
* Maintaining the power distribution network, ensuring safe and reliable operation
* Attending to breakdown repairs within the HV network
About You
* Hold Electrical trade qualification with the ability to obtain a Queensland Electrical license
* Hold a current manual drivers' licence
* A sound understanding of workplace Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S)
* Experience in the HV and mining industry
* Possess excellent troubleshooting and problem‐solving skills
* Flexible approach and adaptable to change with high attention to detail
* Demonstrate ability to work well in a team environment
* Protection relay testing experience is preferable
* Switchboard maintenance, commissioning and testing
* Experience in testing & commissioning of large and small power transformers
* Experience in maintaining & testing indoor and outdoor switchgear
* HV Cable jointing and termination experience is preferable
* Training and upskilling will be provided for HVIA, EWP, Rigger, HR, Forklift, Cable Joining and VLC
