TheRole
We believe in the talent and strength of our team, so that, in aim to keep growing together, we are looking for one HSE Officer for our Project based in Carwarp to start with, and more projects to come, to better help you to grow with our team.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment: Conduct regular site inspections to identify and mitigate hazards such as faulty equipment, unsafe working conditions, and hazardous materials.
Health & Safety Training & Inductions: Deliver safety training sessions for all workers, including daily inductions for plant and equipment use, ensuring compliance with site safety protocols.
Onboarding & Compliance Management: Request, organize, and verify subcontractor documentation on cloud-based platforms, ensuring compliance with the HSE Management Plan and regulatory requirements.
Incident Investigation & Reporting: Investigate accidents and near-miss incidents, propose corrective actions, and ensure all incidents are reported and documented appropriately.
HSE Compliance Monitoring: Oversee adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations, including permit-to-work systems, PPE requirements, and high-risk activity licenses.
Emergency Response Coordination: Manage emergency procedures, including first aid administration and evacuation plans.
Daily & Periodic Safety Documentation: Prepare and distribute daily Pre-Start documentation, generate high-risk work permits, and maintain accurate inspection records.
Safety Audits & Inspections: Conduct SWMS, vehicle, equipment, and subcontractor compound inspections to maintain a high safety standard.
Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with site management, supervisors, and workers to foster a safety-first culture and address concerns promptly.
HSE Performance Tracking: Support the HSE Manager in generating monthly KPIs, ensuring all reporting and compliance measures are met.
Regulatory & Contract Compliance: Regularly review compliance with health, safety, and environmental obligations under the Head Contract and relevant regulations.
Scheduling & Record Keeping: Ensure all paperwork is ready before inductions, complete daily Pre-Start reports, submit weekly/monthly inspection reports, and track subcontractor compliance.
Skills and Knowledge
Proactive Approach: Identifying hazards before they cause incidents by actively monitoring the site and implementing preventive measures.
Strong Communication Skills: Effectively communicating safety concerns to workers, management, and other stakeholders.
Technical Knowledge: Understanding relevant health and safety regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
Leadership Qualities: Encouraging a positive safety culture on site by leading by example and promoting safety awareness.
Qualifications and Experience
Cert IV in Workplace Health & Safety.
Cert IV in Training and Assessment (advantageous).
3-4 years in a similar role.
Previous experience in renewables or construction.
Attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
Ability to work unsupervised.
Diver's license
