Programmed Training Services in partnership with Cockburn Cement LTD are offering an prospect for an enthusiastic and committed Electrical Instrumentation Apprentice to join the team at the Kwinana Operations to develop on the job skills to supplement their nationally recognized training program to achieve a certificate IV in engineering and acquire a WA electrical workers license.
Cockburn Cement is the leading Western Australian manufacturer of cement, lime and packaged cement and drymix products.
We supply the construction, mining and agricultural industries and with the emergence of major global resource industries, have become a major supplier of lime for alumina, gold and mineral sands processing industries.
Our major manufacturing operations are located at Munster, Kwinana, Dongara and Woodman Point with smaller plants and depots in regional locations.
Cockburn Cement is a subsidiary of Adbri, a leading Australian construction materials company with operations that comprise cement and lime, concrete and aggregates and concrete products and employs 1,500 people nationally.
Electrical Instrumentation Role:
- Obtain Certificate III in Engineering - Industrial Electrician
- Examine and understand technical drawings
- Perform engineering measurements
- Gain knowledge in Process control equipment and software
- Gain knowledge and experience in various types of field instrumentation
- Automation equipment and function
- Belt weighers and calibration methodology
- Level detectors and scanning equipment
- Gain experience in maintaining high speed automated packaging equipment
- Develop an understanding of high voltage networks, switchgear and machinery.
- Examine and interrogate Scada operating systems and PLC programs for industrial operations
- Obtain a restricted electrical licence
- Inspect and troubleshoot machinery
- Repair, Replace and Rebuild machinery
- Gain an understanding of maintenance strategies and programs for all industrial electrical and instrumentation equipment.
About you
- Have your driver's license and your own vehicle or working towards obtaining license
- Able to complete tasks to high quality while working to a strict deadline
- Understand the importance of Workplace Health & Safety
- Work well independently and in teams
- Mechanical and Electrical Aptitude
- Year 12 completion and a good head for mathematics
- A can-do attitude, hardworking and physically fit
- Committed to finishing your apprenticeship
- Willing to travel to site at short notice via airplane or helicopter
