Description
The City of Canterbury Bankstown is one of the largest Councils in NSW with the most culturally, socially and economically diverse communities in Sydney. We deliver 28 key services such as childcare, waste collection, parks maintenance, libraries, community facilities and aquatic centres to over 380,000 residents.
The Role
As a Youth Programs Officer, you will provide youth individualized support by delivering youth programs across schools, community events, and Belmore Youth Resource Centre (BYRC) to increase youth engagement and respond to the needs of young people.
Duties Will Include But Not Be Limited To
* Ensuring duty of care and child‐safe practice at all times, maintaining appropriate boundaries, risk assessments, and incident response as well as mandatory reporter guidelines.
* Assisting the Team Leader Children and Youth to ensure Belmore Youth Resource Centre is opened, staffed and operational in accordance to Council's scheduled hours.
* Providing information, support, and referrals so that young people and/or their families can access appropriate services.
* Reporting progress on actions and outcomes in accordance with DCJ Funding Agreement and Council's Youth Action Plan.

You Will Have
* Minimum TAFE Certificate IV in Community Services (Youth Work and/or Community Services Work) or equivalent minimum 12 months of related experience.
* Experience in conducting youth related social and recreational programmes.
* Knowledge of government legislation and funding programmes relating to young people, including Child Protection.
* Skills in the use of a range of computer applications including Word, Excel, Internet and email.
* Working With Children Check (WWCC) clearance.

The salary range for this opportunity commences at $71,820 (Grade D, Step 1) + 12% super. Salary may be negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
