Geographical Information Systems Technician Role

The Georges River Council is seeking a skilled Spatial Information Technician to perform various tasks related to Geographical Information Systems (GIS).

This role involves working closely with colleagues in the Spatial and Digital Services team to develop GIS skills in mapping and understand cadastral data, survey plans, and addressing/property numbering.

The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge and experience in spatial information systems, database management, and problem-solving skills.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

* Managing land titling issues and addressing using legislative requirements and standards.
* Assigning property numbering according to legislation and standards.
* Developing and implementing effective GIS solutions to support the council's goals and objectives.

The successful candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment. They will also be able to learn new technology and software quickly, particularly Technology One Property database and mapping software.

The benefits of this role include:

* A competitive remuneration package, including a permanent, full-time position with 70 hours per fortnight, salary range from $78,933.86 - $91,456.91 per annum plus 11.5% superannuation.

Requirements:

* Tertiary qualification in a relevant field (or working towards) and/or experience working in spatial/geographical information systems.
* Current Drivers Licence.
* Practical experience assigning property numbering according to legislation and standards.
* Knowledge and experience with management of land titling issues and addressing, achieved by reading survey plans, understanding NSW Land Registry Services, Property numbering and NSW planning legislation.
* Willingness and ability to learn new technology and software, in particular Technology One Property database and mapping software.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills and commitment to customer service resulting in continuous improvements and positive change.
* Excellent time management and task prioritisation skills.

Desirable:

* Practical experience with relational databases and SQL knowledge particularly in a land information setting.
* Previous experience in a Local Government.
