About the Role
We are looking to recruit multiple roles due to growth of the new Resource Recovery and Recycle Complex (RRRC) asset at the Western Treatment Plant (WTP). With the main function being prepare for the safe and effective operation of WTP's new primary sewerage treatment processes.
Our Operators are accountable for the safe, efficient and compliant management of WTP's primary sewerage treatment processes. These positions will ensure that the treatment systems function in accordance with regulatory and environmental standards while upholding plant reliability, safety and overall performance.
* Operate, monitor and maintain all aspects of the primary treatment process including screening, grit removal, sedimentation tanks, sludge thickening & digestion, gas storage, polymer feed and all associated ancillary equipment.
* Conduct regular plant visual inspections and monitor system performance through SCADA, instrumentation and manual checks.
* Carry out routine duties/inspections of complex equipment including large pumps and motors and recording of asset conditions to ensure safety controls are being followed.
* Investigate operational and reliability issues and work with Senior Operators/Manager to implement solutions.
* Ensure successful deliveries of various chemicals (including unloading products to various holding tanks and alike), managing deliveries and isolations.
* Collaborate with Melbourne Water's maintenance contractors to allow preventative and corrective maintenance to occur in a safe and efficient manner while meeting production objectives.
* Maintain accurate logs, operational records and compliance documentation.
* Assist in the development and review of standard operating procedures and standard isolation procedures.
* Participate in an availability roster and/or shift work rosters.
* Experience with the operation of any water, wastewater (primary treatment experience would be highly regarded) or manufacturing plant.
* A Certificate III or greater in Water/Wastewater Operations and/or relevant trade qualification.
* Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills with an electrical knowledge and understanding would also be desirable.
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, SCADA systems and operational manuals would be desirable.
* Demonstrated ability to work constructively in a team environment.
* Good written and verbal communication skills and confident use of MS office products.
* A Criminal Records Check, Pre employment health assessment, AusCheck alongside a Victorian Driver's License are required for this role.
The role requires the individual to develop and apply techniques and knowledge learnt during training and on the job experience. This role is deemed a qualified Operator, able to operate the plant independently, undertake isolations and issue isolation permits etc.
As an operator of critical infrastructure, Melbourne Wateris required todeterminewhat roles are critical under the Security of Critical Infrastructure (SoCI) Act 2018. The role you are being offered is deemed SOCIcritical,you willbe requiredto undertake an AusCheck background check.Your commencement in a SOCI critical role will be dependent on successfullysubmittingan AusCheck application and attending an in-person ID Verification with a member of the Melbourne Water People & Transformation team. Your probation will bedependent on the satisfactory outcome of a background check via AusCheck.
