Operating across all states, the ACT and Norfolk Island, our purpose is to achieve positive and lasting outcomes for children, families, and communities.

We pride ourselves on being inclusive and embrace and celebrate the diversity of all people within our communities. Our diversity helps us provide the best support possible to carers, families, children and young people and all of our external stakeholders.

A little about the role

As a Family Group Conferencing (FGC) Convenor, you will work independently to facilitate family‐led and informed decision‐making processes that support child safety, development and stability for children, young people and families involved with Restoring Families across the Inner Gippsland Area.

Key responsibilities include:

* Facilitating Family Group Conferences in line with DFFH FGC minimum standards and Restoring Families guidelines, ensuring processes are family‐led, strengths‐based and inclusive
* Engaging with children, parents, kin and relevant professionals to build readiness, trust and understanding of the FGC process, including identifying cultural, accessibility and safety needs
* Maintaining accurate, timely and confidential documentation required as part of FGC processes (including family plans), and to support service reporting and evaluation
* Consulting with stakeholders across multiple agencies, providing advice and information to support oversight and improvement of Restoring Families services

The role operates independently from case management and statutory decision‐making, preserving family authority whilst ensuring professional safety requirements are understood.

This position is a temporary, part‐time position working 4 days a week (0.8 FTE) until 30 June 2027 and will be based from our Leongatha office, with frequent travel across the Inner Gippsland Area.

The base rate for this position is $100,776 - $105,340/annum (based on 1 FTE) + super + company vehicle or vehicle allowance & fuel card + mobile + salary packaging options up to $15,900 per annum.

About you

You are an experienced and collaborative professional, equally at ease working directly with families, navigating professional networks and engaging children and young people. You are passionate about family‐led practice and supporting safe, culturally grounded and sustainable outcomes for children, young people and families.

The successful candidate will come with:

* Demonstrated experience facilitating complex meetings or group processes, with the ability to engage families and professionals in respectful, inclusive and trauma‐informed ways
* Strong understanding of child safety, wellbeing and development, including knowledge of relevant legislation, information‐sharing and safeguarding obligations
* A strong commitment to cultural safety, Aboriginal self‐determination, child participation and continuous reflective practice, with the capacity to work autonomously within governance frameworks
* A qualification in Social Work, Community Services, Psychology, or other related discipline
