Overview
Head of Department – Student Engagement at Coomera State Special School. Lead initiatives to improve educational outcomes, align school planning with the Early Childhood and State Schools Division vision, and develop the quality of teaching and learning while fostering positive relationships with students, staff and the wider community. This role aims to shape a supportive, inclusive school environment and enhance student engagement.
Responsibilities
* Provide leadership for the implementation of innovative measures to improve student learning outcomes
* Collaborate with a range of stakeholders to ensure goals are focused on student success
* Be an active member of the Project-Based Learning (PBL) committee
* Support and build teacher capacity in trauma-informed practices, Essential Skills for Classroom Management, Zones of Regulation, Restorative Practices, Tier 2 & 3 strategies, and functional behaviour assessments
* Develop and support the implementation of Individual Behaviour Support Plans and Risk Management Assessments for Tier 2 and 3 students
* Lead case management discussions and provide universal supports to staff to support every student
* Support transition processes for new students, ensuring staff and students are supported for successful transitions
* Share ideas and grow staff capacity to implement evidence-based strategies at whole-class and individual levels
* Collaboratively develop and embed a Staff Wellbeing Framework to support staff in a special school context
