The HammondCare Volunteer program is a great way for you to make a meaningful difference to the life of an older person, right here at Hammondville. From sport to art, pets to gardening, walking to yoga, baking to craft, movies to music, coffee to crosswords... whatever you love, you can share it with someone who loves it too.
As a Volunteer Social Visitor, you will provide companionship and meaningful social interaction for older people living in a residential care home. Spend time engaging with residents one‐on‐one or in small groups.
Getting here is easy — there's a bus stop right outside, making your visits simple and convenient.
Your impact
While the main tasks are maintenance related, you will have the opportunity to connect with our residents, providing meaning and purpose to your role.
Responsibilities
* Provide companionship and meaningful social interaction to residents one‐on‐one or in small groups.
* Participate in recreational activities such as sport, art, gardening, yoga, baking, craft, movies, music, coffee and crosswords, sharing your interests with residents.
* Assist with maintenance tasks as needed within the facility.
* Help foster a positive environment and promote residents' dignity and independence.
Requirements
* 18 years or older.
* NDIS Worker Screening Check and National Volunteer Police Check (arranged and paid for by HammondCare).
* Availability for a few hours each visit; visits could be weekly or fortnightly depending on your availability.
* Willingness to participate in volunteer activities and be friendly, respectful, and caring towards residents.
