We are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team.
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality services to our clients. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Preliminary Cost Advice / Project Feasibility Study / Cost Planning / Budget Establishment
* You will assist in establishing client requirements and undertaking feasibility studies.
* You will prepare and manage the required design proposal and client's requirement, reflecting it into the cost advice for the entire project, including civil, structure, architecture, interior, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other specialist works.
2. Pre-Contract Stage
* You will advise on procurement strategy, identifying commercial risks, and help develop suitable responses, including involvement in value engineering exercises.
* You will prepare tender documents, obtain tender information, prepare bills of quantities, including measurement, manage tender queries, pre-qualify tenderers, source and identify suitable tenderers, evaluate and recommend tenderers to participate in tender as per tender programme, obtain and follow up on quotations from main contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers for Pre-Tender Estimate/Cost Study/Cost Advice purposes.
* You will analyze submitted quotations from contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers, understanding and identifying the cost.
* You will assist, prepare, and manage in coordination of procurement exercises, including calling of tender, tender report including tender comparison/tender analysis, attend tender interviews, negotiate and finalize award.
* You will review and check tender submissions for accuracy, level of pricing, advise on errors and qualifications, and if necessary, negotiate the offers.
* You will review and rationalize unit rates and quantity.
* You will assist, prepare, and compile contract documents, involving/advising on use and/or amendments of a standard form of contract or contributing to the drafting of particular requirements in association with the client's legal adviser.
3. Post-Contract Stage
* You will prepare interim payment certificates, carrying out site valuation and assessment of contractor payment applications.
* You will manage and monitor project costs in line with the approved budget, regularly issuing financial reports to the client showing current project costs, incorporating all authorized/estimated change orders which shall indicate anticipated project final costs.
* You will manage the assessment of variations and the financial aspects of the project change control process, negotiating with contractors and recommending adjustments to the contract sum which reflect in project financial reports.
* You will coordinate with the project team in relation to project issues, especially cost and contract matters.
* You will attend site valuations, joint site measurements, site meetings, and/or client/consultant meetings.
* You will assist where possible on a range of legal and contractual issues.
* You will manage the settlement of final accounts.
4. Other Responsibilities
* You will take a leading role in setting team objectives and priorities, working as a proactive team player.
Requirements
* Degree in quantity surveying, civil, structure, architectural, mechanical, or electrical engineering or equivalent.
* A minimum of 5 years' technical delivery experience gained within a global construction consultancy, with exposure to multiple projects; experience on the contractor and/or developer side will also be considered.
* Well-developed technical knowledge and skills, for example preparing tender documents, estimates, and cost plans, measurement from drawings, construction technology, contract, and law etc.
* Understanding and familiarity with professional practice and contract administration processes.
* Passionate about quantity surveying and furthering your career with a leading construction consultancy.
* Excellent client-facing and communication skills.
* Ability to meet tight deadlines, work under pressure, work independently with minimal supervision.
* Good IT skills (Skill and experience user of construction software seen as an advantage, e.g., BIM, Cost X or equivalent).
* Clear and analytical approach to problem-solving and strong decision-making ability.
