ConsultANZ is looking for a Commercial Manager to join a top-tier civil engineering contractor in Auckland. Known for delivering complex infrastructure across New Zealand, our client is gearing up for a landmark project and seeks a strategic commercial leader to oversee financial performance, contract management, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Drive commercial strategy to support business growth and project profitability
Identify and pursue new revenue opportunities across infrastructure projects
Set and monitor financial goals, forecasts, and sales targets
Build and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and key partners
Lead contract negotiations and secure favourable commercial terms
Analyze market conditions and project data to inform business decisions
Manage commercial budgets, reporting, and financial planning
Align commercial objectives with company-wide strategic goals
Ensure compliance with all contractual, legal, and regulatory standards
Oversee project cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting
Lead and support a high-performing commercial team across multiple projects
What You’ll Need
10+ years’ experience in civil construction, with strong commercial leadership
Background in Quantity Surveying and cost management
Deep knowledge of contract administration and commercial best practices
Proven ability in managing claims, variations, and subcontractor performance
Skilled in project financial reporting and progress tracking
Experience with JDE (JD Edwards) systems is highly regarded
Robust leadership and mentoring skills with a strategic mindset
