We are seeking a motivated Graduate Engineer / Project Delivery Officer to support the delivery of key infrastructure projects within Council’s Capital Works Program. This is an excellent opportunity to work across the full lifecycle of civil infrastructure projects while developing your technical and project management skills.
Working from the Ayr office, you will assist with coordinating design, procurement, approvals and construction activities for a range of Council infrastructure projects.
About the Role
This position will support the delivery of civil infrastructure projects by coordinating project development, documentation, approvals and construction activities.
You will work alongside experienced engineering and project delivery professionals while gaining exposure to design coordination, tendering, contract management and stakeholder engagement .
Key Responsibilities
• Compile and maintain accurate project documentation and records
• Coordinate concept, preliminary and detailed designs using internal and external consultants
• Manage statutory approvals including development, operational works and environmental approvals
• Liaise with utility providers and service authorities during project planning and delivery
• Engage with project stakeholders to support successful project outcomes
• Prepare detailed cost estimates and assist with project budgeting
• Coordinate tender documentation, tender processes and evaluation activities
• Assist with contract administration, site inspections and construction supervision
• Monitor quality, safety and project compliance requirements
• Support preparation of project reports for internal departments, Council meetings and funding agencies
• Manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
• Bachelor of Engineering (Civil or related discipline)
• 1–2 years engineering experience (civil infrastructure experience preferred)
• Strong organizational and documentation skills
• Ability to work across multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• A proactive and solutions-focused approach
Mandatory Requirements
• Australian Citizenship (required for this contract position)
• Current unrestricted Driver’s License
• Ability to work 8 hours per day, Monday to Friday, based in the Ayr office
Office space, workstation, computer and access to pool vehicles during business hours will be provided. Townsville based personnel will be required to travel to the Burdekin each day.
