John Fawkner Private Hospital is seeking a motivated and diligent Health Information Services Officer to join our Medical Records team on a full‐time basis.

John Fawkner Private Hospital is located in the north west of Melbourne. With 186 registered beds, a 12 cubicle Emergency Department, 5 operating theatres, 12 bed critical care complex and busy Day Procedure Unit, we provide a wide range of services to its community. We specialise in orthopaedics, general surgery, general medicine, oncology, cardiology, urology, plastic surgery, ENT, gynaecology, neurosurgery, ophthalmic and vascular surgery.
Responsibilities
* Compiling and sorting medical records to be electronically tracked
* Internal and external phone and fax communication
* Provision of health information to internal and external clients
* Filing and culling of medical records
* Day to day functionality of the Health Information Service Department
* Participating in performance improvement activities
Qualifications & requirements
* Authority to work in Australia
* Proficient in use of email, web‐based applications and Microsoft Word and Excel
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* Basic knowledge of medical terminology (Desirable)
* Ability to work autonomously and as a team member in a small team environment
* Ability to work within deadlines
* Flexibility in responding to the changing needs of the business
* Commitment to document security and patient privacy
* Experience with the WebPAS patient information system (Desirable)
* Previous experience in a healthcare setting or record keeping environment (Desirable)
* Previous experience in Health Information Services (Desirable)
