Lead inspector electrical safety

The role will liaise closely with business units across the ESO and Workplace Health and Safety Queensland, relevant government departments, renewable energy project developers, designers and constructors, electricity entities, industry and professional organisations, to support a holistic approach to managing electrical risks in the renewable energy sector.

The role reports to the Supply and Networks Program Manager. The person will be appointed as an inspector under the Electrical Safety Act 2002.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Establish and manage relationships with relevant development and designer stakeholders to identify and influence electrical safety in critical design aspects of renewable energy projects within the state planning processes;
- Monitor and enforce compliance by exercising the powers as an appointed inspector in accordance with the Electrical Safety Act 2002
- Prepare complex technical reports, correspondence, submissions and briefs in response to ministerial requests and operational matters as directed by the Director, Supply & Networks and Program Manager.
- Mentor and support field based inspectors to ensure ESO operational procedures are being implemented and inspectors are able to undertake their roles in a competent and safe manner
- Monitor and report on strategy, programs and initiatives within the scope of the role and identify and address risks and issues impacting on achievement of objectives;
- Provide high-level advice to the Director, Supply & Networks and Program Manager and other key stakeholders in relation to contemporary, contentious and emerging issues within the scope of the role.
- Manage relationships with key stakeholders in industry, government, education, training and the wider community to identify ongoing and emerging needs and issues, develop initiatives, and provide advice to the Program Manager on these matters.

**Competency Profile**:
Competence at the Lead Inspector-Electrical Safety level requires a sound understanding and the ability to share specialist knowledge gained through extensive experience in the electricity industry. Previous work in a role with significant electrical safety responsibilities is required. Certification of competency in a trade allied to the electrical industry and/or tertiary qualification in occupational health and safety or related discipline is desirable.

**Mandatory requirements / special conditions**:

- No mandatory qualifications, but a current Queensland electrical work licence is desirable
